What is the Sapere approach?
The Sapere method is an educational approach that encourages children and adults to explore food and taste using all five senses.
Rather than focusing on “healthy” or “unhealthy” foods, the method stimulates curiosity, sensory awareness, and positive food experiences.
A workshop includes:
- Introduction to the principles of the Sapere approach
- Hands-on sensory exercises
- Practical tools for teaching about taste and food perception
- Guidance on implementing sensory food education in schools or organizations
- Examples of lesson structures and educational activities from Taste Lessons
About Taste Lessons
Taste Lessons (Smaaklessen) is a Dutch educational program focused on food literacy, taste development, and sensory learning for children. The program supports schools and educators in helping children explore food in an open, curious, and experiential way.
Smaaklessen combines educational practice with scientific insights into taste development, food behavior, and sensory education.
